The prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases is of immense social and economic significance to Jamaica, given among other things, the associated health costs and impact to families and our economy.  In this regard, the Government of Jamaica has been taking decisive steps towards reducing risks.  These include; through implementation of policies for schools to eliminate or reduce access to sugar drinks; encouraging persons to participate in at least thirty (30) minutes of physical activities per day; as well as encouraging good nutritional health policies and practices.

Through the Ministry of Health’s Adopt-A-Clinic programme, the High Commission has undertaken to promote the Jamaica Moves UK programme to raise awareness on Non-Communicable Disease (NCDs) and to promote overall healthy lifestyle to Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica residing across the UK.

The Jamaica Moves programme, which is an initiative of the Government of Jamaica, has received the endorsement of the World Health Organization (WHO), CARICOM Heads of Government, as well as the British High Commission, Kingston.
