VISAS
Jamaican Visas are issued
by all Jamaican Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates
and Honorary Consulates. Visa applications
may be submitted in person or by mail and the processing
period varies according to the nationality of the
applicant as some applications must be referred to
Jamaica for approval. Others which do not
necessitate referral may be issued by the High
Commission within 3-4 working days, excluding mailing time.

Visa Requirements for
Jamaica

Depending on your
nationality you may or may not require a visa for entry
to Jamaica, whether for tourist, business or other purposes.

Nationals of the
countries listed at List
A
below do not
require visas for periods ranging from 14-90 days.

Nationals appearing in
List B
may be
issued visas, on application at the port of entry in Jamaica
or may apply to the High Commission.

Visa nationals appear on
List C
below.
-
Citizens of
Commonwealth
Countries, including the United
Kingdom,
who appear on List D
,
with the exception of
Cayman Islands, Nigeria, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and
Zimbabwe,
DO NOT REQUIRE VISAS
The following categories of persons must apply for visas
:
-
Foreign nationals
wishing to enter for permanent residence: this
applies to all nationalities
-
Foreign Nationals intending to
take up employment, set up a business or to engage
in professional practice,
unless
in possession of a permit issued by the
Ministry of Labour, authorizing the employment of
the foreign national
- Work permit
holders, their spouses and children, provided that
letters of approval issued by the Ministry of Labour
are produced.
- Nationals of the
countries listed in
List C and
List B
below.

| VISA APPLICATION GUIDE |
| 1.
VISAS issued by the Jamaican High Commission, London
.
The processing period varies according to the
nationality of the applicant as some applications must
be referred to Jamaica for approval. Others which
do not necessitate referral may be issued by the
High Commission within 3-4 working days, excluding
mailing time.
Persons needing a
visa to enter Jamaica are required to submit the following
documentation:

- Applicant’s passport - with at least 6
months validity
- If on business visit, a letter from employer
- Persons going to work should present their work
permits
If the
visa application has to be referred to Jamaica for approval,
applicants should allow about 3 weeks for processing.
Applicants who possess
resident status in the UK do not require referral to Jamaica. |

Fees for visas issued in London |
£25.00 - plus additional
£10.50
for return by courier with the UK, if applicable.
This is payable in cash or postal
orders only. Personal cheques are not accepted.
For applicants outside of the UK the courier charges
vary depending on the location and country.
A fee of US$102.40
( or its equivalent) is applicable to nationals of
the Cayman Islands, with effect from 1st
December 2005.
A fee
of US$100 ( or its equivalent) is applicable
to nationals of Zimbabwe, with effect from
1st January 2007

Visas issued at port of entry in Jamaica
Persons eligible to receive visas at the port
of entry must satisfy the Immigration Authorities in
Jamaica of their bona fides, and should comply with the
following conditions, and be in possession of: |
- Valid passport / travel document
- Return ticket with re-entry visa for country of
residence for persons who
are not nationals of their present country of residence,
or onward ticket with visa for another destination
- Funds for the visit or have evidence that adequate
arrangements have been made for accommodation and
maintenance during the visit.
The fee charged for visas at the ports of
entry in Jamaica is US$20.00 or its equivalent.

Work Visas |
Work visas are
issued solely on the basis of evidence of a confirmed
job offer. Documentation to be presented on application
in this regard are:
- original letter from organization affirming job
offer;
- original work permit approval signed by or on behalf
of the Minister of Labour;
- completed visa application form accompanied by
one (1) passport-size photograph.
