Q: If I am a married woman, what documents should I present to renew my passport?

A:

A woman who is applying for a passport in her married name MUST present her original Marriage Certificate issued by a competent authority such as the Registrar General's Department of Jamaica, whether she is applying for the first time or  she is renewing her document. In addition, a Birth Certificate, an expired passport, two photographs.

Please note that married men  do not need to present  their Marriage Certificates.   Married women who do not want to take their husband’s surname are still required to present their Marriage Certificate.

Q: If I am a divorced woman and wish to keep my married name, what documents should I present to renew my passport?

Please present the original Decree Absolute and Marriage Certificate along with your Birth Certificate, expired passport and two (UN-SIGNED) photographs.
