Emergency Certificates

Requirements 

Adults

  • Completed Passport Application Form
  • Expired Passport
  • Birth Certificate and a photographic form of Identification, if the Passport has been lost/stolen
  • Police Report/Home Office Letter, where applicable
  • Home Office Biometric Card/Immigration status document 
  • Two (2) Passport sized colour photographs
  • Travel itinerary
  • No cash, cheques, postal orders, credit/debit cards will be accepted.  

Minors

  • Completed Passport Application Form
  • Expired Passport, Birth Certificate and a photographic form of Identification, if the Passport has been lost/stolen.
  • Parent(s) Identification
  • Police Report/Home Office Letter, where applicable
  • Two (2) passport size colour photographs
  • Travel itinerary

  • No cash, cheques, postal orders, credit/debit cards will be accepted.  

Qualified applications/transactions will be assigned a reference number. This reference number MUST be used in making the required bank payment. Failure to include the reference number will result in undue delays in the processing of your application/transaction.

Please note that persons who have not established a claim to Jamaican Citizenship by descent nor are holders of a Jamaican Passport must submit an application for citizenship along with an application for Emergency Certificate. An Emergency Certificate will only be issued to Jamaican Citizens.

Applications for an Emergency Certificate can be submitted via post provided the expired Passport is also transmitted.

PROCESSING TIME

Allow at lease five (5) business days from the date of making the application at the High Commission. Please note that applications should not be submitted earlier than two weeks before the date of travel. 

For applications submitted via post, please allow  ten (10)  to fourteen (14) working days for processing. Applications should be made at least 3 weeks before the date of travel. 

PLEASE NOTE THAT LAMINATED, PHOTOCOPIED OR SCANNED DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
