Jamaican high commission

Unconditional Landing

Unconditional Landing status allows an individual to live in Jamaica indefinitely while being able to attend school  or work without having a work permit. Persons with this status may remain in Jamaica for an extended period of time.

Qualification

  • Persons born overseas of Jamaican parentage
  • Jamaicans who are holders of non-Jamaican passports 
  • Holders of a Caribbean Community (free movement of skilled persons) Certificate
  • Persons who have been naturalised or registered as citizens of Jamaica.

Documentary Requirements

Persons of Jamaican heritage

  • Valid Passport
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • If the application is being made using a parent, then the parent's Birth Certificate will be required, along with the parent's Marriage Certificate (where applicable and if there is a change of name) or Deed Poll (where applicable and if there is a change of name).
  • The parent's Birth Certificate should show their first, middle (where applicable) and surnames. If no surname appears on the Birth Certificate, then a valid or expired Jamaican passport is required to validate the surname. If the application is made made through the father, his name must be on the applicant's Birth Certificate
  • If the application is being made using a grandparent, then in addition to the grandparent's Birth Certificate, the parent's Birth Certificate, valid passport, Marriage Certificate (where applicable and if there is a change of name) or Deed Poll (where applicable and if there is a change of name) are required. The grandparent's Birth Certificate must show their first, middle (if required) and surnames and must be in the same order in which it appears on the parent's Birth Certificate. Where no surname is recorded on either grandparent's Birth Certificate, a valid or expired Jamaican passport is required.  

Jamaicans who are holders of non-Jamaican passports

  • National Passport
  • Original Jamaican Birth Certificate or Jamaican Passport

Minors

  • Original Birth Certificate, parent's Birth Certificate showing their first, middle (if applicable) and surnames. If no surname appears on the Birth Certificate, then a valid or expired Jamaican passport is required to validate the surname. 
  • The father's name must be on the applicant's Birth Certificate if the application is being made through the father
  • If the application is being made through the mother and she is married, her Marriage Certificate is required if she is using the married name

Others

  • With respect to other categories of persons, the Certificate of Citizenship or Caribbean Community Certificate should be submitted with their passport

Fee of J$10, 000 payable in Jamaica
